Building on the success of the first (2018) and second (2021) Innovations in International Philanthropy Symposium, the Network of Engaged International Donors (NEID Global) and
The Philanthropic Initiative’s (TPI) Center for Global Philanthropy hosted the 2023 Symposium in Cambridge, Massachusetts on September 7-8, 2023. The Symposium brings together donors, foundations, companies, and investors who are actively engaged in international philanthropy and seeking to propel forward the capacity and impact of their globally-minded work. The Symposium is designed to support the growth of strategic and collaborative international philanthropy by offering participants the opportunity to explore trends in philanthropy, gain practical skills and knowledge to increase the levels and impact of their giving across borders, learn from peers, and network with funders actively engaged in supporting international development efforts.

2023 Symposium Recap
To capture the essence of the third Innovations in International Philanthropy Symposium is a daunting task. When we and our teams began to plan this, we only knew we wanted to distill the best of the 2018 and 2021 events into two days and to connect and inspire participants in a similar manner as we had successfully done in the previous two Symposium but with an even greater sense of the urgency to take action. This year in particular we wanted attendees to recognize that supporting local communities globally in an equitable manner would also require us to adopt new narratives and norms in global philanthropy in order to ground relationships in more solid footing. In addition, we also wanted to challenge global funders to find the courage to take risks and more action.
The world is on fire and more courage and action will be required in the future.
2023 Keynote Speakers
Winner of the 2022 Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity. For over 25 years, Jamila has been championing women and girls’ rights against discrimination, the rights of persons with disabilities and non-violent conflict resolution.
Moky Makura has been a TV presenter, producer, author, publisher and a successful entrepreneur in her own right. She is currently the Executive Director of Africa No Filter.
Shaheen Kassim-Lakha leads the development and implementation of external engagements that enable the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to multiply its impact.

The Innovations in International Philanthropy Symposium is open to foundation donors, trustees, and staff; individual donors; corporate funders; donor-advised fund holders; members of giving circles; and board and staff of philanthropic support organizations. The attendance of any party shall be within the sole discretion of the Symposium co-hosts, TPI and NEID Global. The Symposium is not open to solicitors and/or grant seekers.
